Budget 2024 – CCL rates to increase from April 2026

Amidst the usual post-budget headlines there are often myriad of minor tweaks that surface over time –

CCL on gas has increased notably in recent years, this is due largely to the drive to recognise the fact that electricity and gas now have similar g CO2e/kWh. Whereas CCL on electricity has not changed since April 2021.

The current CCL rate for both electricity and gas is 0.775p/kWh. Both will increase ‘in line with the RPI’ to 0.801p/kWh from 01 April 2026.
