Loss of main change programme – beware of high pressure sales

Accelerated Loss of mains change programme.jpg

Embedded generators (PV, wind, AD, CHP etc.) have to update their G59 equipment and funding is available to help with the cost of doing it. Whilst there are perfectly good consultants and installers out there ready to help if you need it, some are employing questionable tactics to try and win business.

A client of mine received a letter last week. Some key parts were (you’ll get the idea I’m sure):

  • URGENT NOTICE regarding your PV

  • We are a recognised contractor of Northern Powergrid

  • Compliance is a legal condition

  • Enforcement action may be taken

  • The deadline for the next funding window is 09 February 2021

  • CALL OUR COMPLIANCE TEAM TODAY

I get the feeling that they are well practiced at this kind of approach; nothing in the letter was factually incorrect. I imagine Northern Powergrid will ‘recognise’ their name; whether due to good or bad reasons who knows?

The Loss of Mains Change Programme is real and you do need to act if it applies to you. The deadline to make any changes required to your G59 equipment is 01 September 2022.

But why wait until summer 2022? Get ahead of the crowd, schedule it in alongside other work in 2021 and probably save a bit of money as well.

National Grid ESO and The Energy Networks Association both provide good, unbiased information.

If you are still unsure about if or how this affects you get in touch with me for some no nonsense advice.
